From LunaSol to Lunaqua: A Legacy of Alchemical Skincare

LunaSol, the renowned European alchemical skincare line, has been rebranded as Lunaqua in the U.S. to mark its official expansion into North America. While the name has changed, the formulations, philosophy, and alchemical production methods remain untouched, ensuring that Lunaqua retains the purity, vitality, and transformative power that define LunaSol.

Rooted in the Italian Alps, our skincare formulas blend biodynamic herbs with spagyric alchemy to nourish the skin and support transformation — physical, emotional, and energetic. We believe true beauty emerges when the body, spirit, and nature move in harmony.

Our products are crafted in accordance with lunar and seasonal rhythms, drawing from ancient European alchemical traditions and modern botanical science. Each formula is a living expression of balance — between sun and moon, spirit and matter, soil and skin.

With each application, Lunaqua invites you into a deeper rhythm — one that honors the cycles of the Earth, the intelligence of the skin, and the power of plants to heal, restore, and renew.

The Origins of LunaSol: Alchemy and Rhythm as the Foundation of Beauty

The story of LunaSol (now Lunaqua in the U.S.) begins with Alexander von Bernus (1880–1965), a German poet, philosopher, and one of the most influential alchemists of the 20th century. Von Bernus dedicated his life to reviving and advancing alchemical traditions, particularly in medicine and European biological remedies.

In 1921, he founded the SOLUNA Laboratory, where he developed the Solunates—a collection of spagyric medicinal extracts designed to support the body's natural healing processes through detoxification, drainage, and organ support. His spagyric method, which involved separating, purifying, and recombining botanical essences, became highly regarded in European biological medicine for its ability to restore balance at both the physical and energetic levels.

Von Bernus’ philosophy was deeply rooted in the belief that true health arises from harmonizing with nature’s rhythms. He saw the human body as interconnected with the cosmic and elemental forces that govern all life, emphasizing that aligning with natural cycles was essential for well-being. His pioneering work in spagyric medicine later laid the groundwork for a new application of these principles, inspiring the creation of LunaSol Rhythm Cosmetics, where the same alchemical wisdom was applied to skincare.

The Revival: The Proeller Family and the Birth of LunaSol

For decades, von Bernus’ spagyric remedies remained a hidden treasure, until the 1980s, when Karin Proeller and Marino Lazzeroni—two visionaries passionate about natural medicine and alchemy—sought to bring his work back to life.

Meeting Isa von Bernus, the widow of Alexander von Bernus, they learned about the forgotten SOLUNA remedies. Recognizing their significance, they revived the SOLUNA Laboratory in 1988, reintroducing its spagyric formulations to the world.

But their vision didn’t stop at medicine. Inspired by the profound effects of alchemical plant extractions on the skin, they sought to create a line of natural cosmetics that embodied the same principles of rhythm and transformation.

Thus, in 1991, LunaSol Rhythm Cosmetics was born—a revolutionary skincare line developed in the Soluna Medicinal Plant Gardens of the Italian Alps, where plants were grown, harvested, and processed in harmony with the natural rhythms of the sun, moon, and seasons.

Each product was crafted according to alchemical and spagyric principles, ensuring that the botanical extracts not only nourished the skin but also supported emotional and energetic balance. This fusion of skin and soul care became the hallmark of LunaSol Rhythm Cosmetics.

In 2014, Karin and her son, Christoph Proeller, expanded this legacy further, constructing a new SOLUNA Laboratory in the shape of a lemniscate (∞), a symbol of infinity, to reflect the eternal rhythm of life. Their work continues to honor the vision of Alexander von Bernus, blending ancient alchemy with modern natural skincare.

LunaSol Comes to America: Dr. Mark Iwanicki and the Birth of Lunaqua

While LunaSol flourished in Europe, it had yet to make its way across the Atlantic—until Dr. Mark Iwanicki stepped in.

A naturopathic doctor, acupuncturist, and expert in European biological medicine, Dr. Iwanicki had long been immersed in detoxification, drainage, and spagyric remedies. Recognizing the unparalleled quality and efficacy of LunaSol skincare, he became determined to bring it to the U.S. market.

To do so, he founded Fiori Naturals LLC, securing exclusive distribution rights for LunaSol in North America. However, due to trademark considerations, the brand needed a new name—thus, Lunaqua was born.

Under the Lunaqua brand, Dr. Iwanicki ensures that the original alchemical processes, ingredients, and formulations of LunaSol remain intact. Every product is still handcrafted in Italy, utilizing the same spagyric-rhythmic extraction methods developed by Alexander von Bernus and maintained by the Proeller family.

Lunaqua now serves as the bridge between old-world alchemy and modern North American skincare, bringing pure, alive, and transformative cosmetics to a new generation of skincare enthusiasts.

Lunaqua: A Legacy of Alchemy, Rebirth, and Transformation

Though Lunaqua is new to the U.S., it carries within it the wisdom of centuries—a skincare philosophy rooted in the belief that true beauty arises when we align ourselves with nature’s rhythms.

From the medicinal gardens of the Italian Alps to the hands of those who seek holistic, energetic, and skin-transforming care, Lunaqua represents a fusion of the cosmic and the earthly, the scientific and the mystical, the seen and the unseen.

As Dr. Iwanicki continues to champion Lunaqua in North America, he ensures that this legacy of alchemical skincare reaches those who seek more than just skincare—but a deeper connection to themselves, to nature, and to the rhythm of life itself.
